Cornish Chimney Making Workshop

This workshop offers you the chance to make a creation inspired by Cornish industrial heritage. During this workshop you will be shown how to make a piece inspired by the iconic Cornish chimney stack. You will be shown how to roll out coils of clay and build them up into shape and then carve and decorate the chimney to look like stone. You could even take it one step further and make a handle to turn it into a mug. Once assembled you will get to paint it with coloured slips. Once dry, your chimney will be fired in our kiln, then a clear glaze will be applied and it will be fired again ready for you to come back in to collect. This usually takes between 10 to 30 days. No experience necessary, just a willingness to try. Equipment and materials: Clay, coloured slips and tools are provided.
